It Pays to Be Obedient

It Pays to Be Obedient

In 2020, I met with Brother Gbenga at a church in Surulere
My fiancé was the one who insisted i had to meet with brother Gbenga based on the experiences i was having at the time
We sat down for about thirty minutes, with the discussion focusing more on why my relationship with my fiancé had not moved past the cohabitation stage
I sensed at the time that Brother Gbenga was subtly telling my fiancé to leave me if I refused to marry her
He didn’t say so, but it was implied according to how I heard him
I remember looking at him and wondering how he thinks he can just judge someone he met in thirty minutes without considering the person’s struggles
Then he looked at me and said, “The reason you have not made progress in life is because of your current location. When you move out of that place, you will experience great speed, and you will be able to fulfil your dreams.”
My fiancé wrote it down and sent it to me via WhatsApp later that day, but i ignored it
Another year went by and my fiancé relocated to America because I still had made no progress
The house I live in belonged to my parents and it is the cheapest alternative I had at the time. i was too scared of finding rent or squatting with friends
I left the house in january this year because a friend offered me a job in Enugu
My story changed from that point
When we delivered the job, we were given another contract to do some installations at 22 beach houses in Lagos. from there I am working on a security outfit’s entire network system at the moment in Port Harcourt
My fiance and I are already talking marriage with ease
I just had a moment of reflection as I went to pick my fiance up at the airport yesterday and I realised how myopic I was at the time
God is faithful to His word
Glory be to His Holy name.
