The First Duty of The Watcher Is Vigilance

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Many years ago, while casting a devil out from a dear lady, the demon, trying to put up some resistance, said, “I’m not coming out; I’m responsible for the removal of her fallopian tube!” Of course, I didn’t bother to engage the demon in a dialogue; I simply said, “You’re coming out right now, in the Name of Jesus!” And he screamed and came out of the lady. Later on, the lady began to explain to me how she was given the wrong diagnosis and underwent a bilateral salpingectomy. She didn’t know demons were responsible for that cruel mistake. This has happened to a lot of people. There are people who have had to go through surgeries they never needed; some died in the process. Many hospitals are deathtraps, where demon spirits lodge and inspire doctors to do the wrong things. We’re living in the days of intense spiritual conflicts and warfare. A young girl of about nine years became demon-possessed; her behaviour suddenly changed and her health became unstable. No one could understand what happened to her. She started having very strange dreams where she’d find herself at the bottom of a river with a “queen” and other girls of her age. Her life became a mess. It was later discovered that it all happened at her school when her friend, who was demon-possessed, gave her a particular gift item, and the devil entered into her.

Life is spiritual; everything you can see with your optical eyes and relate physically with came from the realm of the spirit. It’s essential for you to be spiritually sensitive to discern and decisively deal with the enemy whenever he shows up. Be on the alert. The Lord Jesus warned us to watch and pray (Mark 13:33). Speak in tongues often, because as you pray in tongues, spiritual realities are unveiled to your spirit, and you won’t be ignorant of the devices of the enemy. You’ll see and will be able to relate to the “real” truth concerning any situation. Praise God!

Many of us are aware of the experience of Moses and the children of Israel on their journey to the promised land. The Bible described the pilgrims as strong, healthy, and as numerous as the sands of the seashore. A certain king called Ballak, the king of the Moabites, decided that he didn’t like their guts, but he didn’t have the army to confront them in a physical battle, so he decided to engage the services of a sorcerer called Ballam. The task he gave Ballam was simple; he said Ballam should curse Israel for him. Moses knew nothing about this, and neither did the Israelites, because this was done in secret at the palace of Ballak. God immediately alerted an angel to stand against the words of Ballam the sorcerer. The angel went to Ballam and warned him not to obey the invitation of Ballak. Ballam, however, was greedy and Ballak had offered him a lot of money, so he went. The angel again warned him not to say a word, but Ballam was greedy and he found it difficult to resist the mouth-watering offer of Ballak, so he built an altar and made a huge sacrifice at the altar with the hope of appeasing God and the angel so that he would be permitted to place a curse on Israel.

The angel saw Ballam’s efforts and told him what to say Balaam said, “Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me.” 2 Balak did as Balaam said, and the two of them offered a bull and a ram on each altar. Balaam said to Balak, “Stay here beside your offering while I meet with him over there.” The Lord met with Balaam and put a word in his mouth and said, “Go back to Balak and give him this word.” So he went to him and found him standing beside his offering, with the Moabite officials. Balak asked him, “What did the Lord say?” Then he spoke his message: “Arise, Balak, and listen; hear me, son of Zippor. God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it. “No misfortune is seen in Jacob, no misery observed[a] in Israel.

The Lord their God is with them; the shout of the King is among them. God brought them out of Egypt; they have the strength of a wild ox. There is no divination against[b] Jacob, no evil omens against[c] Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’ The people rise like a lioness; they rouse themselves like a lion that does not rest till it devours its prey and drinks the blood of its victims.” Then Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all nor bless them at all!” Balaam answered, “Did I not tell you I must do whatever the Lord says?” Ballam tried again and again, but God frustrated the token of his divination and ensured that Israel was not cursed under any circumstances.

PS: A lot of Christians do not pay attention to their spiritual environment and their role as watchers who watch over God’s word to bring it to pass. God told me in 2022 that he is bringing Nigeria into a season of prosperity, right in the middle of fuel scarcity, dollar scarcity, and all forms of economic woe I was driving to Pneuma City for our annual retreat when the Lord told me this in the car. I announced it to the believers all around me and took steps to ensure that when the prosperity comes, I would not be a bystander or a prophet who was told what would happen tomorrow and yet did nothing to turn the information to advantage. I bought some shares of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (For the first time in my life) and I began to prophesy over the nation constantly that the word of the Lord over the nation will come to pass without any delay. A lot of policies made by the government before this time led to heavy losses for the country; the cash crunch cost Nigeria over 20 trillion Naira.

I held on to the word of God, I didn’t know how it was going to happen, but His words had never failed in my mouth, and I know the country will find a way to turn things around I began to pay attention to the stock exchange’s actual numbers and started disregarding the news because everyone seems to have opinions based on their political biases. I couldn’t find any form of objectivity Numbers, however, don’t lie. The numbers began to turn around, shares leapt for joy as trading volumes increased The numbers began to align with the prophecy God gave me personally. A prophecy I invested in heavily (meaning with the little I have as an individual) and which I also encouraged all the good Christians around me to invest in. Imagine my shock when one disgruntled technocrat decided to play the role of Ballam son of Peor by posting a curse he claimed was based on cutting edge technology?

A liar whose words failed before they were spoken. I was not motivated by politics or friendship or carnal interests. I am a watcher; It is my duty to watch over the word of God until they are fully performed. This is my office and I will stand at my post until the Lord tells me “It is Done”.
