Learn to Respond By Faith

God’s Word comes to you with the power to produce in you the message it bears. His Word never comes empty; howbeit, you must receive it in faith and respond accordingly.

That was what Mary did when the angel of the Lord brought her the message from God that she would give birth to the Saviour, Jesus. She said, “…Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word…” (Luke 1:38).

She trusted the message; she believed it and responded in agreement, and it worked. That’s how you respond to God.

The Bible says, “…He hath said…so that we may boldly say…” (Hebrews 13:5-6). Your faith-response is what you say as a result of God’s Word that comes to you. God didn’t give us His Word just so we can believe it, but most essentially, that we can respond to it. So, you can make your personal faith-proclamations on the basis of His Word. It’s the affirmation of it that produces results.

For example, the Word says, “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Your faith-response, therefore, should be, “Christ is in me; therefore, in my ministry, in my health, in my finances, in my family, job, business, academics, and in all that concerns me, the glory of God is manifest! I walk in the excellence and glory of Christ; there’s no reproach in my life!”

Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me….” Your faith-response should be, “No matter the evil or adversities, I triumph over them, because greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world.” Hallelujah!

I made up my mind a long time ago to specialise in God’s Word, and I encourage you to do the same. No matter what other areas you’re an expert in, ensure you’re a “Word-specialist.” Get to know the Lord through careful and diligent study of the Scriptures.

Let His Word dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16). Memorise and quote scriptures constantly. God says when you do this, “…you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8)!

2 Timothy 2:15) also instructs us to study—not just “read”—the Word: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (KJV).

This is what it means to be a “Word-specialist”; one who studies to know and apply the Word rightly. The Bible is the most important book in the world, for it contains the revelations of the nature, plan and character of God. It’s God’s manual for living the successful and glorious life, and it deserves careful and undivided attention.

Your Bible-study time shouldn’t be shared with any other activity, because it’s very important. When you study the Bible, do it meditatively, and the Holy Spirit will illuminate your spirit with amazing revelations. Let God’s Word soak into your spirit; confess it over and over again until it gains the ascendancy in your mind.

The Word of God in your spirit and in your mouth will make you what it talks about. That’s what you need to fulfil all that God wants for you, and experience the divine metamorphosis that’ll make you a wonder to your world.

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified (Acts 20:32).*_

The Word of God gives you much more than a moral code of conduct; it builds, lifts, transforms you and catapults you to your inheritance and destiny in Christ. Proverbs 11:9 tells us that through knowledge—revelation knowledge of God’s Word—shall the just be delivered into their inheritance.

Thus, you have to know the Word, store it in you, and consciously put it to work in your life. That’s your guarantee of a life of ever-increasing glory. The Bible says, _*“…All things are yours”*_ (1 Corinthians 3:21); that means there’s nothing you require today that hasn’t already been made available to you by God through the Word.

This is one reason you must meditate on the Word. Become voracious in your passion, hunger, and appetite for the Word. There’s no way of appropriating the blessings of God to your life without the accurate knowledge of the Word. We triumph by the Word. We reign in life through the Word. We win, excel, and prevail over the challenges of life through, and with the Word.

The more you study and meditate on the Word, the more inspired and excited you get about the life in Christ. The knowledge of God’s Word gives you an undeniable conviction about the transcendent life of victory, righteousness, success, and dominion that Christ has brought to us! Your victory is in the Word of God, so study it to know it, for only through the knowledge will you discover and enjoy your glorious inheritance in Christ.

Study the Word for what it does in your spirit. The Word in you goes into your spirit, soul, and body, and becomes part of your being; making you what it talks about. When you ingest and digest the Word, it becomes one with your spirit, thereby enhancing and improving the quality of your personality. Bombard your mind with the Word of God, until it completely inundates your thinking, and your life will go in one direction only: upward and forward!
