A Letter From Brazil

Hey guys!
I got home at 2 am this morning after spending several hours with a precious couple. They had both been addicts, but they met Jesus and were filled with the Holy Spirit.

He was smoking weed several years prior, and suddenly, the cigarette went out, and his cell phone turned off as he encountered God’s manifest glory. The first time he freaked out, ran inside, and told people he had an alien encounter.

He rolled a longer cigarette and made sure his phone was charged the next day. But the same thing happened again. This time, God spoke. He prostrated himself, surrendering to the Lord.

He instantly stopped using drugs and was quite happy for a year. But then he fell back into old habits. He met a woman who was also an addict, and he would tell her about his experience with God. She thought he was crazy.

They soon broke up, and his ex ended up in a ladies’ recovery house that we often visited. Jesus healed her arm, and she witnessed many other miracles, including the restoration of a woman’s hearing who was 90% deaf.

She had previously mocked Christians, but she began walking with Jesus and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Her old boyfriend was in another state, but returned and said he was off drugs and also following Christ.

She didn’t believe him, and she insisted that he had to go through rehab before they could have a relationship again. He was about ready to enter rehab, but she then saw that his life really had changed. They built their relationship again, this time on the foundation of God’s Word, abstaining from any sex until they were married eight months later.

They’ve been ministering with us in recovery houses for a year or more since then.

We prayed for people at the end of the “cell group” meeting in their home last night, and saw several miracles. Her little boy had terrible vision in one eye. He couldn’t tell how many fingers someone was holding up, even at a short distance. We prayed, tested, and it seemed the same.
We prayed again, and I asked whether he felt anything as we were praying. “Nothing.” I asked if it was any better. As he was saying “no,” his stepdad held up his fingers again, and he immediately said the correct number. He tried again and again, and the little boy got it right instantly, every time.

Everybody applauded, amazed by what happened to the little boy’s vision. He was walking around with both eyes open. Previously, one eye had been shut unless he made a real effort to open it.

Anyways, we had a long conversation and prayed more after most people went home. They had been hungry for the Lord, fasting, praying, and reading the Bible. They’d also encountered demonic manifestations, as one child had gotten involved in the occult.

They were quite involved with a local church. While the leaders were happy to tell them what to do with their lives, where were they when it came to exercising authority over Satan’s works? The leaders were not walking in authority in Christ, nor were they teaching others to do so!
Many Christians in Brazil have experienced an attack through the occult and are afraid of it. Knowing our authority in Christ over sickness and demons is Christianity 101. Yet few Christians are even being taught the basics.
