Purify Your Motives

Some people live their lives pursuing their own selfish interests, not aligning themselves with God’s vision. What’s God’s vision? It’s that men come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). Therefore, connect your dreams to His dream, and purify your motives with His love.

Soul winning should be the compelling motive and propelling force in your life. You’re first a Christian before being a politician, teacher, banker, student, etc.; therefore, fulfil your calling in the Gospel. Let the expansion of God’s Kingdom be your number one passion. Therein lies true joy, fulfilment, and all the blessings you could ever desire.

There’s a depth in God, a realm of joy and fulfilment you’ll never know until you make your life count in soul-winning. Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “… Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” In Matthew 24:14, He said, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

The instruction to take the message of salvation to the ends of the earth wasn’t just to pastors and evangelists, but to every Christian. You’re a minister of the New Testament (2 Corinthians 3:6), a bearer of the glad tidings of salvation. You’ve been commissioned to reach out to those living in darkness with the light of salvation.

You’re a light in a dark world; therefore, be aglow with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Beam it with steady radiance to others so they can become lights as well. You’re God’s man for the hour, holding forth the word of life—opening the eyes of them that are lost, turning them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God.

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be (Genesis 15:5).

The Word of God brings visions to your spirit. It’s one of the important benefits and impactful ministries of the Word of God in our lives. When you hear God’s Word, watch out for the visions that it brings to you, the spiritual visions, and revelations that it conveys; accept them, and they’ll profit you.

Spiritual visions from God come to your spirit when you hear or study the Word. It’s the reason a man can see himself healed once the Word of God for healing comes to his spirit. And when he acts on the basis of that vision produced in his spirit by the Word, he’ll jump out of the wheelchair or stretcher, as the case may be, and start doing the things he couldn’t do prior to hearing the Word.

We see all this all the time in our meetings. Many who were carried into the auditorium, sick and unable to walk, suddenly start running and jumping. Many of them, in their testimony, say, “I just saw myself walking and running as I listened to the Word, so I acted accordingly.”

When the Word brings visions to you, hold the picture and act accordingly. It’s one of the reasons you must soak yourself in the Word. Give yourself completely to the Word of God. Revelations, manifestations of the gifts of the Spirit, and several other blessings are activated in your life when you listen and pay attention to the Word.

There are different kinds of visions; there’s the vision where the Spirit of God shows you what to do in a particular situation and guides you on how to do it—vision for guidance—and there are examples of such in the Bible. Acts 10:1-6 narrates the remarkable account of the Roman centurion named Cornelius, who was guided through such a vision.

The Bible describes Cornelius as a God-fearing man who gave much alms to the poor. For this reason, God sought to save him. So, one day, God showed him a vision where he saw an angel telling him to send for Peter who would tell him what to do for him to be saved.

But that wasn’t all. In Acts 11, Peter himself saw a corresponding vision. He said, “I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision… And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house: And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved” (Acts 11:5, 11-14).

These scriptures clearly illustrate for us how God guides His people through visions. And if you’d lift your eyes in the spirit as well, He’d guide you in your endeavours. He’d give you visions and show you the right steps to take. As you look to the coming year, give yourself to the Word of God and yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit in prayer; you’d see visions of the things He wants you to do and the steps you should take.

You have three means or channels of vision:

1. The eyes of your spirit

2. The eyes of your body

3. The eyes of your mind

1. The Eyes of Your Spirit

What the eyes of our spirit see is not under our control but God’s. You can’t say, “Right now, I want to see something in the spirit realm”; no, you won’t, because seeing into that realm is God’s work. It’s up to Him to make something appear to your spirit or to open the eyes of your spirit to see into the spirit realm.

Understand that when God put you in the earth, He made your spirit to function through your outward man—your body. Every spirit requires a physical body to function on Earth, and while you’re here, you can’t choose to function by your spirit without your body. That’ll make you illegal on Earth.

This is why everything you’d ever do directly from your spirit would have to be through the Holy Spirit, and He would manifest Himself to you and deal with you in that realm without your body. This means the eyes of your spirit can only see what God shows them.

You can’t put them to work by yourself. That’s why you’ve not yet seen some things you’ve always wished you could. It’s because you simply couldn’t “open your spirit-eyes” by yourself.

Ephesians 1:17-18: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.”

You’ll also find in Acts 2:17 that The Amplified Bible calls visions “divinely granted appearances”. You can, however, use your other two sets of eyes at will. God gave them to you for your choice operations, and it’s up to you when and how you use them.

2. The Eyes of Your Body

The eyes of your body are your physical eyes in your head. You can choose to use them whenever you want. Simply open them, and you can see what’s around you.

However, the sight or vision you get through these eyes is limited. They can only see things that are already existent in the physical realm; they can’t see the invisible. This is where the eyes of your mind become so important.

3. The Eyes of Your Mind

The eyes of your mind are your creative eyes. In the mental realm, we’re able to create whatever we want to see. Your physical eyes can only see what already exists in the physical; they can’t make things become.

The eyes of your mind, however, can produce what you want to see in the physical.

In my book, “Recreating Your World”, I teach that your imaginative power is your creative ability.

God gave us the ability to imagine as a special gift to help us create the world we want to live in. If you don’t like the life you’re living, you can change it. God has given you the tool (your mind) and the ability to make the change.

This ability is naturally God-given. With your mind, you can choose what you want to see. Seeing only what exists in the physical is living at the lower plane of life, and, sadly, that’s where many are. But if you’re born again, you have the God-nature, and God wants you to lift your vision and see the unseen.
