Watch Over Your Health

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

As a child of God, your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 6:19), which means your body isn’t yours; it’s owned by God. However, you’re the one to keep watch over your body and keep it healthy. You’re the one to exercise authority over your body, keeping it free of sickness, disease, and infirmity.

You’re not ordinary; you have the right to tell your body how it should feel. Tell your body what to do, and it’ll respond. Jesus said in Mark 11:23 that you shall have what you say. If you’ve been struggling with an addiction, declare with boldness, “I’m not going to let anything dominate me. I keep my body in subjection to the Word of God!” Don’t permit in your body anything that’s not consistent with the Word of God for your life; take charge and rule over your body with the Word of God.

When you perceive the symptoms of sickness in your body, reject them, for they only become real when you say they are. Your words aren’t empty; what you say comes to pass; therefore, talk to your body always, and keep it in health. Don’t say, “I have a growth in my stomach, and it’s hurting so bad. The doctor says it’s cancer”. Don’t talk about the growth; talk to it instead! Tell it to die and pass out from your body. Tell the pain to cease, and tell your body to function rightly in line with the life of Christ that’s in your spirit.

Christ literally lives in you! He dwells in your spirit and expresses Himself through your physical body. Your consciousness of this reality makes it easier for you to exercise dominion over your body against sickness, disease, and infirmity.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet, and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 TLB) . Your mind is unlimited in its potential to create whatever you desire. When you put your mind to work, the possibilities are endless. There are no limits to what you can achieve, and absolutely no restrictions to how high you can propel yourself in life. Just as Romans 12:2 (ESV) says, “…Be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” By renewing your mind with God’s Word, rejecting negative thoughts, and embracing faith-filled confessions, you align yourself with divine health. THE POWER OF YOUR MIND IN HEALING

The connection between the mind and body is undeniable. Worry is the enemy of positivity. Recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:27 (TPT); He asked, “So, which one of you by worrying could add anything to your life?” Some people believe that until they are worried and flustered, God won’t do anything about their situation. What they don’t know is that worry actually short-circuits the power of God in one’s life. God designed our minds to influence our bodies. Romans 12:2 (ESV) says, “…Be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” This means that by changing your thoughts, you can change your health. When you think thoughts of divine healing, restoration, and transformation, your body responds accordingly. But when you dwell in fear, doubt, and sickness, your body follows that pattern. PRACTICAL STEPS TO STRENGTHEN HEALING THOUGHTS

• SPEAK LIFE OVER YOUR BODY: “It’s absolutely imperative that you speak forth the Word concerning you, because until you do, it will have no power and it won’t work.” Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Instead of saying, I am sick, declare, I am strong, healthy, and full of life.

• MEDITATE ON THE SCRIPTURES: Fill your mind with God’s promises, Jeremiah 30:17, Isaiah 53:5, because “One thing is certain, if you stick to the word, you will come back with a testimony.”

• REJECT FEAR AND DOUBT: 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear and worry hinder not only healing but every good thing that’s coming your way, but faith activates it.

• VISUALIZE YOUR HEALING: See yourself whole, strong, and healthy. The mind responds to images, and what you focus on becomes your reality. “What you see with the eyes of faith is more real than what you see with your optical eyes”. 2 Corinthians 4-18 (NIV)

• STAY JOYFUL: Joy strengthens the body. Nehemiah 8:10 declares, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Laughter and gratitude release healing power in your life.

Your thoughts play a crucial role in your healing. Just as the placebo effect proves that belief alone can trigger healing, faith in God’s promises can do even more. Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Even when symptoms persist, maintaining faith-filled thoughts and confessions sets the stage to walk in the reality of divine health. “The way to transform, improve, and upgrade your life is by renewing your mind.”

Healthy living isn’t a quick fix. It is a conscious lifestyle practice, consisting of daily choices and habits that contribute to giving you a well-balanced life. The secret to the big picture lies in the small details. Here are a few things you should pay attention to when you consider lifestyle choices that will ensure healthy living. 1. Keep a clean environment. The state of your environment influences your state of mind and health, and even the elements you attract to yourself. Unclog your space and put all items in their proper places. Schedule periodic cleanings and maintain sanitary standards always. 2. Eat well. Eat properly cooked meals, avoid junk food and processed foods (include examples here—Note: this is a suggestion). Don’t skip meals, especially breakfast. Always eat a balanced diet; your body needs a lot of nutrients from different food types to function optimally. Also, regulate portion sizes and snack healthily. 3. Stay hydrated. Drink a lot of water throughout the day, starting with one full glass first thing in the morning. Water helps your body feel refreshed and replenished, and repairs itself as needed. 4. Exercise. Physical activity is important for everyone, regardless of weight or health condition. Stay in shape and active. Stretching your neck, back, and legs in the morning is particularly helpful. Take a fifteen-to-thirty-minute walk every day. 5. Sleep and relax. Inadequate sleep affects your body in many ways, including an increase in stress levels, a reduction in brain functions, weight gain, depression, etc. Take afternoon naps, if possible, and watch less TV so you can go to bed early. 6. Take extra care of your body. Cultivate and maintain healthy, sanitary practices. Take care of and protect your eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and skin, following approved measures for hygiene. 7. Kick harmful habits. Healthy people don’t smoke, nor do they drink alcohol, nor take too much caffeine. Don’t watch TV for too long, don’t skip breakfast or eat late at night… the list is endless. Examine your routine and remove unhealthy practices, then replace them with healthy ones. 8. Enjoy life. You have been called to a life of enjoyment and abundance (John 10:10). Don’t worry about the little things; learn to laugh and smile more. 9. Be kind. Nothing beats doing something good for someone else. An act of love, kindness, or generosity will go a long way to help you destress and be more thankful for what you have. 10. Have healthy relationships. Appreciate the people in your life; let God’s love flow to all around you. Forgive easily and quickly. Avoid feelings of bitterness, anger and resentment toward others.
