Developing The Royal Mindset: Rule and Reign As KINGS

Until the Rapture of the Church, we’re supposed to rule and reign as kings on earth through Jesus Christ. Later, during the millennial reign of Christ, we’re not just going to reign through Him but with Him. And it doesn’t stop there; we’ll also reign with Him in the New Heaven and the New Earth!

The Bible says we are “…priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years” (Revelation 20:6 NIV). 2 Timothy 2:12 NIV says, “If we endure, we will also reign with him…. ” But that’s all in the future.

Right now, we reign in Christ and in this world by the power of the Holy Spirit

You’ve got to walk in this consciousness. Remember what Romans 6:4 says: “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life” (NASB). This new life is the life of kings. Revelation 5:10 says He’s made us kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

If you’re born again, you’re a whole new person with a kingly mindset and values. See life from that perspective of victory and reigning only. The Amplified Classic version of our opening verse says we shall reign as kings in the realm of life. You’re a king; reign as one! Rule with words because that’s what kings do!

The Bible says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power…” (Ecclesiastes 8:4). Exercise dominion through words. Issue commands to the devil, his cohorts, and the elements of this world, and they’ll hear and obey you because you function in, and with, the dominion of Christ. You can alter the course of events and change circumstances from the privacy of your room.

That’s why you should never be moved by anything. It doesn’t matter what the situation is; you can cause it to align with the will of God through your faith-filled words. Glory to God!

“And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

In God’s mind, when He looks at you, He sees a king. That’s what He’s made you. The Bible says He has made us kings and priests. He’s not planning on doing it, He’s already done it. You’ve been ordained by God to reign and rule in the realm of life. He has made you superior to the devil and impregnable to the adversities of life. Today, not only does God expect you to see yourself as a king, but He also expects you to live as one, for that’s who you are.

The reason some Christians are not living as kings in life is their ignorance of the Scriptures. Many don’t know who they are, and as a result, they live below their call. If you’re born again, you’re a king, so you must live as one. Kings don’t beg; they make decrees. That’s their nature. They don’t make entreaties like commoners; they exercise authority. That’s how God expects you to live. He always wants you to exercise authority and dominion over the devil and the negative forces of life.

Even in your prayer life, don’t beg. God hasn’t called you into servitude or a beggarly life. He’s made you a king. So, when you pray, minister to Him as a priest, and make decrees as a king. The Bible says where the word of a king is, there is power (Ecclesiastes 8:4). Your words are backed with power; they contain inherent dynamic ability to change any negative situation and put the devil to flight.

Therefore, always be bold to speak in line with God’s Word. Be bold to make decrees, because as a king, whatever you decree shall be established to you.

As a Christian, the consciousness or realisation that you’re actually a king, and not a helpless, needy commoner, will completely change the way you live. Don’t think or say, “If I’m truly a king, why is my life like this? Why aren’t things working out right?” Evidently, those who talk that way haven’t believed the Word; they haven’t accepted who they are.

You’re a king because God says you are; it has nothing to do with what you might be experiencing. What you need is to practise living as a king. Kings reign; so, start reigning. How do kings reign? They reign through words. The Bible says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power…” (Ecclesiastes 8:4); power to effect changes; power to make what you say come to pass.

Decide that you’re going to walk, talk, pray, and live as a king throughout this year. It begins with your mentality. Look into the mirror and tell the person on the other side of the mirror, “You’re a king; rule and reign as one!”

One thing is sure: Kings exercise dominion and authority. The most beautiful part is that your authority as a king is that of the Lord Jesus; He’s the One who made you a king. Therefore, you have every right to exercise dominion, and “king” over the devil and the forces of life.

Refuse the low or ordinary life. If, for instance, you’ve been having a challenge of accommodation, it’s about time you said to yourself, “It’s not right for a king to be homeless!” Then start speaking words that’ll create the kind of accommodation that you want. If you’ve been in search of a job, it’s time to create one; start speaking and issuing decrees. As you do, these words will cause you to take actions that are necessary, position you, and create the right conditions and circumstances for the fulfillment of your desires, through the power of the Spirit.
