CONTRARY WINDS

(Matthew 14:24)

At what point do you stop believing?

At what point do you give up?

At what point do you conclude it’s not worth it anymore…

You HEARD an instruction from the Master.

You launch out to do what He instructed you to do.

But the wind is contrary…

In other words, situations and circumstances seem to go against the dream/goal. The wind is blowing against your boat, making your journey more difficult and pushing you off course. You face strong opposition and challenges in your walk to destiny…

At what point do you give up?

At what point do you say, “am I even sure He sent me on this assignment?”

At what point do you start doubting you heard from God?

In the above quoted Scripture, there is a background story…

“Jesus had just fed five thousand men (beside women and children) with five loaves and two fishes. He just performed an amazing, jaw-dropping miracle! The interesting part is, the Disciples took part in the miracle: “Jesus took the five loaves and the two fishes, looked up to Heaven, blessed them and broke them and gave them to His Disciples to give to the multitude” -Verse 19.

After the euphoria of this miracle, Jesus gave these Disciples an instruction: “Get into the boat, go to the other side of the lake, I’ll stay back to dismiss the crowd” – Verse 22.

So, they did as The Master had instructed: they got into the boat and launched out…

But halfway to their destination when the boat was in the middle of the sea, the situation and circumstances changed: the winds started blowing in a contrary direction!

What would YOU do in such a situation?

Continue on the journey?

Give up and go back?

Do you start doubting you heard The Master’s instructions correctly?

The point is, you WILL face difficulties in life, ESPECIALLY on the instructions you HEARD from The Master! It may NOT be an easy ride, folks.

God told Prophet Samuel to fill his horn with oil and go to Jesse’s house: He has picked one of his sons to be the next King of Israel.

Samuel did as instructed: he anointed 17 year old David as the next King in the presence of his father and brothers.

David did not become King of Israel for the next TWENTY YEARS! (David was crowned King of Judah aged 30 and became King of Israel aged 37 -2nd Samuel 4:4-5)

Let that sink in.

And in those twenty years, David fought many battles, the first was against Goliath the Philistine. At some point, he had to pretend he was mad to save his life (1st Samuel 21:12- 22:1)

But he NEVER gave up.

He NEVER doubted he was anointed to be King.

He never got to a point he thought it wasn’t worth it anymore.

He NEVER thought “Did I hear correctly? Did Prophet Samuel really anoint me to be King? Am I sure Prophet Samuel heard from God? Did he do the right thing? Or is the oil he anointed me with expired or fake? I shouldn’t be facing these oppositions and challenges if indeed I am anointed to be King!”

The truth is, you ARE facing those oppositions and challenges BECAUSE you ARE anointed to be King!

If David had no calling, no anointing, no instruction from The Master, if David were just an Average Joe living an average life, he would NOT have faced the oppositions and challenges he faced.

The winds don’t blow contrary in the lives of ordinary and average people, folks. It blows against the lives of those who have an Instruction from The Master.

When you HEAR The Instruction, when you KNOW The Master, you will NEVER stop believing, no matter the opposition and challenge you face.

God has spoken to you: STOP DOUBTING THAT BECAUSE THE WINDS ARE CONTRARY!
